I have written this passage to try and provide you a little inspiration on what I have achieved, a few months ago I was at a stage where each and every month I was finding myself in more debt, with the interest killing me. A friend of mine had sent me a message on facebook telling me how he was about to vacate his job. I was shocked he said this because he is a single father with 3 kids. In 4 weeks he had educated himself and learned the ways of freelance writing, and he was now prepared to give up his day to day job and work from home full time (a dream job).

My envy was massive, and to make things worse I was made redundant just days later. I was determined to educate myself “how to become a freelance writer” and get myself out of my current position. I just had the web (for research) at my disposal as well as a lot of time on my hands. I was deeply in financial difficulties and I was ready to lose everything I had worked for. My investigation began, I searched and searched, bidding on every job I came across. With no surprise I just wasn’t getting any work, I didn’t think it would be that hard since I already able to read and write fairly well.
I thought to myself why can’t I do this, but the truth is I could, so I began to look into it locating all the places where freelance writers are needed. My savior was that my friend had done it, so I could see the doh at the end of the tunnel but the education that I had to put in was massive. I came across a job that was in need of an ebook being written, the budget for the project was $200. I needed to send the employer an introduction and I spent hours making sure I worded it correctly so that it came across well. I was so enthusiastic that this would be my big break that I found it to sleep, I awoke from the small amount of sleep I had and my enthusiasm came to an abrupt end. It turned out there had been a massive response to the project post and many of the freelancers were far more experienced as well as having much more knowledge then I had, my bid now seemed doomed along with my pointless evening writing my introduction. I was at that point where you start to believe this just isn’t for you, but then it hit me.

I had already done the hardest thing. I took action, now I just need to maximise my skill and learn the system. I searched the internet looking for all the writing work I could locate. It might be unusual but the majority of people trying to break into the industry with no training or without a system won’t get this far. The time had come where I needed to seek advice from my friend; I asked him some pretty private information about the systems he implemented etc. The advice he supplied was amazing, he was so supportive he recommended taking a course to increase my ability.
Following on from my mates advice, I chose to take a course, I am now 60 days on from taking that course and I don’t even have to look for work because my clients keep returning. All because I didn’t quit and I found a great system to help me learn how to become a freelance writer.
